PLEXUS#11. Potencia Tortillera

 Para celebrar marzo como el Mes de la Historia de las Mujeres, PLEXUS presta atención en esta ocasión al Archivo Digital de Potencia Tortillera (PT) en el 15º aniversario de su aparición. La iniciativa nace en 2011 en forma de blog de la mano de un grupo activista de lesbianas que trabaja de manera descentralizada desde diversos puntos de Argentina, encabezadas por Gabriela Adelstein, Valeria Flores, Canela Gaviria, María Luisa Peralta y Fabi Tron.

PT se autodefine como archivo documental digitalizado del activismo lésbico, conformado por producciones gráficas y teóricas, registros fotográficos y sonoros, encuentros reflexivos y acciones callejeras de grupos y activistas lesbianas de diferentes momentos históricos, múltiples posiciones políticas y diversas geografías de Argentina. Está en permanente construcción, recibiendo nuevos aportes y colaboraciones [...].

Desde esta concepción. PT nos habla en su blog de la intención alumbrada en el momento de crear el archivo, mostrando exactamente las mismas inquietudes que movieron al nacimiento de las organizaciones pioneras en este ámbito, en especial los Lesbian Herstory Archives de Nueva York en 1974, pero trasladándolas a un contexto temporal y espacial diferente, la posmodernidad digital en Argentina a principios del siglo XXI. De manera consecuente con el ideario al que se adhiere, PT concibe el archivo como reservorio documental que intenta dar cuenta de una multiplicidad de acciones, textos, cuerpos, historias y memorias que han sido silenciadas y borradas por el relato oficial. Pero también puede leerse como archivo corporal y sensible, inscrito a fuego en nuestras pieles [...].

Esta propuesta nos acerca a la acción política ejercida desde la performatividad corporal siguiendo los postulados queer. Por otro lado, la fórmula del blog como archivo ofrece la ventaja de un mayor grado de interacción con las personas interesadas. PT también dispone de cuenta de Instagram para difundir los fondos documentales digitalizados que lo conforman, así como página de Facebook.

Con el paso de los años, PT se ha consolidado como archivo lésbico de referencia en Argentina y ha ido más allá, convirtiéndose en una organización activa que lucha por los derechos de las mujeres lesbianas mediante otras iniciativas, como ciclos cinematográficos o encuentros de sororidad como el Campamento de Verano celebrado recientemente en Cañuelas (provincia de Buenos Aires).

To celebrate March as Women's History Month, PLEXUS focuses this time on the Potencia Tortillera Digital Archive when it celebrates the 15th anniversary. Potencia Tortillera (PT) defines itself as a digitized documents archive of lesbian activism, comprised of graphic and theoretical works, photographs, audio recordings, reflective encounters, and street actions by lesbian groups and activist women from different historical periods, with diverse political positions, and from various geographical locations in Argentina. It is constantly evolving, receiving new contributions and collaborations [...].

From this perspective, PT speaks on her blog about the intention behind creating the archive, revealing the same concerns that motivated the birth of pioneering organizations in this field, especially the Lesbian Herstory Archives in 1974 in New York, but transposing them to a different historical and geographical context: the digital postmodernity in Argentina at the beginning of the 21st century. Consistent with the ideology they adhere to, PT conceives of the archive as a repository that try to account for a multiplicity of actions, texts, bodies, histories, and memories that have been silenced and erased by the official narrative. But it can also be read as a corporeal or embodied, and sensitive archive, inscribed in fire on our skin [...].

This proposal brings us closer to political action exercised through bodily performativity, following queer principles. Furthermore, the blog-as-archive format offers the advantage of greater interaction with community and users. PT also maintains an Instagram account and a Facebook page to disseminate the collections.

Over the years, PT has established itself as a leading lesbian archive in Argentina and has gone further, becoming an active organization that fights for the rights of lesbian women through other initiatives, such as film festivals and sisterhood gatherings like the Summer Camp recently held in Cañuelas (Province of Buenos Aires).
